Investigation of spin-related phenomena in polariton transport
Non-linear optical systems based on exciton-polaritons in low dimensions are new promising candidates for classical and quantum information transfer technologies, as they provide potentially a much faster operation speed than any electronic systems, however, the effects of nonlinearity become significant only for sufficiently large field intensities, which makes necessary the use of strong pumps and limits the possibilities of their practical use. On the other hand, it has been recently proposed that in a particular type of optical microstructures, namely semiconductor microcavities in the strong coupling regime, strong nonlinear effects can be observed even for moderate or weak pumping.
